Bio
Stefano Mungiguerra is Associate Professor in Aerospace Propulsion at the Scuola Superiore Meridionale .
He got his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering with highest honors, in October 2015. His Master’s Thesis dealt with a numerical and experimental study of the performances of paraffin/gaseous oxygen hybrid rockets.
In 2021, he was awarded his Ph.D. Degree in Industrial Engineering at University of Naples Federico II, with a thesis titled “Aero-thermo-dynamic Study on Thermal Protection Systems and Rocket Nozzles in Innovative Ceramic Materials”.
From 2022 to 2026 , he has been Researcher in Aerospace Propulsion and lecturer for the Space Propulsion course in the framework of the Master Course in Aerospace Engineering at University Federico II.
In June 2026, he has 80+ recorded documents on Scopus (journal articles and conference proceedings), with 1100+ citations and h-index 19. He is member of the editorial board for two Scopus-indexed journals. He is currently member of the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIDAA), of the Space Propulsion Technical Committee of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF). He has been part of the AIDAA Local Technical Committee for the AIAA Hypersonics 2026 Conference, held in Naples, Italy, in 2026.
He has been visiting researcher in DLR (German Aerospace Center) in Cologne, Germany and in CNRS-PROMES (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique – Laboratoire PROcédés, Materiaux et Energie Solaire), in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, France.
